| Your Unforgettable Day
Pick up from your hotel in Paris around 8 am. Fresh hot beverages, buttery croissants, and newspapers are provided as we head towards Champagne.
10:30 am
After our arrival, we have a visit of a Champagne vineyard near Reims. Once in the vineyard, your guide will explain the Champagne soil, the three main grape varieties of the region, and the life of the vines through the seasons, from pruning in the winter time, up until harvesting in the fall. The visit in the actual vines will be followed by a tasting at one of the region's producers.
12:30
As your appetites will by now be whet, it is time for lunch! We will restore ourselves at a traditional French lunch at a restaurant in Reims itself.
2:00 pm
After our lunch, a tour of the beautiful Notre Dame Cathedral of Reims is in order. A gothic masterpiece, it was also very important in the Royal history of France, as it where the French Kings were crowned (including King Charles VII, in the presence of Joan of Arc). Soak up the centuries of history, set in the heart of old Reims.
3:30 pm
After our architectural hiatus, it is time to get back to the bubbly! You are now headed for a guided visit of one of the most famous Champagne houses in Reims, and its underground chalk cellars (Taittinger, Veuve Cliquot, Ruinart, ...). You will descover the steps in Champagne wine making, unravelling the mysteries of pressing, fermentations, bottling, and the unique Champagne method of "riddling" . A glass of (finished) Champagne is served to toast the end of your visit.
5:00 pm
Departure from Reims. You will likely enjoy a small siesta as we head back to return you to your hotel in Paris, arriving around 7:30 pm. |
