The Médoc, one of the world's most famous wine regions, invites you to follow the Route des Grands Crus. You will go past many prestigious châteaux, reflecting the prosperity and prestige of Bordeaux winegrowers -great names such as Margaux, Latour, Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild. Visiting the estates, you will taste wines of infinite nuances in luxurious cellars. Fine Médoc is full of vigour, with an unforgettable bouquet and inimitable finesse.

Day 1: Welcome to Bordeaux
Arrival in Bordeaux and check-in at your hotel. Take some time to explore this port-city, in existence since neanderthal times! Though you won't see many remains from this time, you'll enjoy the beautiful 18th century buildings that still line the quays, as well as the general feel of wealth (earned mostly from the wine trade that left from here on boats) that lasts from the time of Eleonor of Aquitane, and her husband, Henry Plantagenet. Today it is enscribed by UNESCO as "an outstanding urban and architectural ensemble". Be sure to explore the elegant "Place de la Bourse", as well as St Peter's church, Saint Andre's Cathdral and the Grand Theatre. Dinner in a gourmet restaurant.

Day 2: Exploring the Médoc
After breakfast, your English-speaking guide & chauffeur will meet you at your hotel and take you on a full-day tour to explore the Médoc wine region and its famous appellations of Margaux, Saint Julien, Pauillac, Saint Estèphe… You will visit and taste wine at three different wine estates, at least one of which will be a Grand Cru Classé. Lunch at a winery. Return to Bordeaux in the early evening.

Day 3: Wine & Heritage in Saint Emilion
Today’s program: exploring the vineyards of Saint Emilion with visits and tastings at two of its Grand Cru Classé as well as the medieval village including a guided tour of its subterranean monuments and monolithic church. Lunch in a local gourmet restaurant in the centre of St. Emilion. Return to Bordeaux in the late afternoon. Dinner on your own. Suggested restaurants list

Day 4: The Vineyards of Graves & Sauternes
Today’s tour will take you towards the south of Bordeaux into the Graves and Sauternes vineyards, where you will visit and taste wine at three different wine estates and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant well known for its seasonal cuisine. Return to Bordeaux in the late afternoon.
Dinner in a gourmet restaurant.

Day 5: Departure
Breakfast and free time in Bordeaux.
